ESCANABA — "You're going to make me cry," said Charles Lundmark of Gladstone as he walked through a line of well wishers welcoming the 79 World War II veterans back from their trip to Washington D.C. to see the WWII Memorial and other sights at the Capitol city.

Community   U.P. group builds soup kitchen in Honduras      2/24/2012

ESCANABA - About 20 people from the U.P. are currently in Honduras to help build a soup kitchen for children. Friends of Honduras in Escanaba takes people each year to the country to provide medical and community support.

Community   Ice races rescheduled at U.P State Fairgrounds      2/11/2012

ESCANABA — “We have ice,” said Steve Masters, Director for the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau. Postponed because of warm weather, the Midwest Ice Racing Association Ice Masters 500 is now scheduled for Feb. 24 and 25.
